Helix Nebula @ 2nd International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI 2014), 2-4 April 2014, Athens
ESA presented Helix Nebula at the 2nd International Conference on Research Infrastructures (ICRI 2014), on 2-4 April in Athens, Greece.
Helix Nebula was presented during the e-infrastructure session on sustainability. The audience showed interest in our business model, in the mix of public and private infrastructures in a competitive environment, and some wondered about the relevance of current cross domain data (Physics, biology and Earth Observation).
The session concluded for the need of a long-term view to enable durability and sustainability, focussing on convergence rather than proliferation of e-infrastructures and exploiting public-private partnership.
ICRI 2014 offered a high level international forum where key stakeholders met, discussed and contributed to bringing forward global issues related to Research Infrastructures. Co-organised by the European Commission and the Greek EU Presidency of the European Union, it was focused on taking forward the recommendations of ICRI 2012, which took place in Denmark and the 3rd EU-Australia Research Infrastructure workshop that took place in Canberra in November 2013.
The conference attracted 600 international participants during three days and included an exhibition of demonstrations and videos of international research infrastructure projects.
HN was presented during the Parallel Thematic Session, which addressed sustainability of e-infrastructures and related business models, as well as new professions and skills related to e-infrastructures.
