The open e-IRG Workshop "Open Science and e-Infrastructures" under the auspices of the Latvian EU Presidency of the European Union will be on 3 June 2015 in Riga, Latvia. Co-located with the WIRE conference, the e-IRG Workshop "Open Science and e-Infrastructures" will be focus on Open Science. e-Infrastructures are evolving towards service-oriented provision with on-demand allocation and pay-for-use capabilities calling for a rethink of the procurement process for e-Infrastructure services. Currently publicly funded resource providers and their users lack the knowledge and mechanisms to collectively tender & bid within a public procurement process. The goal of this session is to analyse opportunities and barriers for cross-border procurement of e-Infrastructure services and to identify best practices that could enable Research Infrastructures or large research collaborations to acquire services to support their research agenda collectively...
The third CloudWATCH Concertation meeting looks at future directions for software services and cloud in Europe, highlighting new opportunities for novel research and innovation to ensure Europe remains a world leader. The meeting takes stock of new services going to market in the near future assessing their go-to-market scenarios, user experience and potential barriers to uptake. It concludes with a call to action on the most pressing challenges for market uptake, defining practical steps that can be taken.
